On to Canada

We have had a wonderful first week on the boat. You can see my zenlike attitude on a rock at Sucia.
Spent 3 nights at Sucia – with our friend Patrick and daughter Keira. The kids had a fabulous time exploring the island, rowing around on their own and hanging out. As did the grown ups!
On to Stuart Island where we hiked to the lighthouse, only to find it undergoing repairs to remove lead paint on the roof – which mystifies me. But great walk as always with stunning views. This was after Larry fell in while trying to maneuver the dinghy around off the swim step – all we heard was a splash and an “Oh yeah!”, and after a while a “Please put down the swim step”. He said it was quite refreshing. Unfortunately his Iphone was in his pocket and is now dead – so don’t try to call him this summer! For the past 2 days we have been in Roche Harbor at the northern tip of San Juan Island. Experienced quite the unusual thunder and lightning storm on the first night after a great meal at the restaurant for the old hotel – McMillan’s. All of our fish dishes were truly excellent. Yesterday we walked through the Island art museum, which has a cool outdoor sculpture garden. Daniel and Miranda also made their own driftwood and shell art at the kids tent and were quite pleased with themselves. At 3PM yesterday, Helen Daniel and Miranda departed on Kenmore Air back to Seattle. It was hard watching my little girl get on that little plane – but they made it safe and sound. Miranda is going to spend the next week at Camp Wahoo, a serious horse camp, with her friends Katrina and Kate. Thank you Lisa and Ann for getting her there and back!
After fueling up this morning we will head on to Bedwell Harbor and into Canada.
